Damn GT-R turbos need rebuild

Wednesday, 25 August 2004 | Comments (2) | Categories: Engine

Another set back - and it seems the curse has been passed onto the turbos, I had them checked at Performanz for a prospective buyer only to find out they need to be rebuilt. So, although it will cost money, I need to sell them rebuilt to make enough out of them. Will also try and recoup costs in the final pricing.

At least I'll feel comfortable in selling them once they've been rebuilt.

As for the other parts that are left, well, there's the air filters and adaptors, gearbox and turbos that are left. I'm thinking I may as well just keep the filters for the Silvia, and the exhaust which I thought would never go went on Saturday. Unfortunately out of the money I've made on selling the parts, I have had to purchase the bunky for $1500 and have paid close to an additional $1500 for parts and labour to get her running well again!

Oh well. I've managed to pick up a couple of private jobs lately which should help the cause.

HKS GT-RS Turbo on the way!

Well, I found a sweet deal on http://www.nissansilvia.com for an HKS GT-RS Turbine Kit (for SR20DET) at only $2350 delivered within Australia. I couldn't pass it up so I got it asap. Should be here next week. Got this through Flying Performance International in Sydney:

Here's a quick product speel on it:

HKS just released another full ball bearing turbocharger GT-RS. This kit is an upgrade over the GT25/40 with alittle bigger turbo specs, retains full ball bearing capability and great for spool up and anyone looking for a potent street vehicle.

- HKS GT-RS - 400HP Output

- Wheel- 52 Trim - 51.2 Inducer / 71.1 Major
- Housing- 60 Inlet / 50 Outlet - 0.60 A/R

- Wheel- 76 Trim - 53.8 Major / 47.0 Exducer
- Housing- GT25 inlet / Internal GT25 outlet; 0.64 A/R

The kit will come with all the accessories for bolt on.

HKS Dump and Sard 550cc Injectors arrive

Not being known to muck around, I've already started getting in parts for the Silvia project as I sell the parts from the GT-R. I went ahead and found a well priced set of Sard 550cc injectors for the SR20DET and a genuine HKS Turbo Dump (extension) pipe in stainless.

It all begins again...why do I do it to myself.

Say good bye to GT-R

Well the insurance company paid out and I bought back the wreck. I've taken as many parts off as possible while still keeping it rolling, and have put adverts up on Skylines Australia and Skylines Downunder in an effort to sell all the parts off it.

I will be keeping some parts of the GT-R for Silvia though:
- R33 GT-R Brembo brakes (front and rear)
- R32 GT-R front-mount intercooler (to be fitted to Silvia using an East Bear I/C piping kit)
- R32 GT-R front seats
- Bosch Motorsport 040 600hp fuel pump
- Buddy Club P1 Racing QF's (18x10's)
- Initial stereo system from GT-R

The engine will be going to Jeff Ash at C-Red along with the shell which he has already hatched plans for.

Almost about to start

Well, still awaiting word back from the insurance company regarding the fate of my GT-R, but should know very soon. That's when this blog will get going.
